The eleven steel trusses of the new Welcome Building in The Devonshire Quarter are now in place.
Installation of windows is underway and concrete is being poured to create the upper floors of the new building that will link the Congress Theatre and provide state-of-the-art conference facilities.
In addition, a new gas main has been installed that will supply boilers for the site and next month, the Devonshire halls will be demolished to make way for two new tennis courts.
Contractor Vinci Construction UK is also continuing the refurbishment of the Congress Theatre with the start of work on the audio visual and stage lighting systems.
The Grade II listed theatre is on schedule to re-open on March 24 2019 for a performance by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
